"They call her Thrifty Fisk..."

Sorry for my belated post but I've had a very busy day, and by busy I mean shopping, charity shopping.

Bargains 'o' the day:
Shirt, but a dress on me!
£3.95 due to lack of haggling abilities.

I know £3.95 is not at all bad, but I did try to lower the price even further to no avail, good job I'm not planning a trip to Turkey any time soon, I be no good at the markets! Also I can't take credit for finding this, it was weeded out by somebody with a much more finely tuned thrifty eye than me, *I need more practice.

*excuse for more shopping; tick!

£3.49!

How gorgeous are the colours on this?! It looks like someone's smooshed all the tones of a New England landscape in to tartan, it's so nice and autumnal. It's actually a small blanket, but there's no way this is not being worn on my person whenever possible, I can easily fold it into a scarf or shawl, it's so versatile. I haven't even worn it out yet and I already love it.

In other news I had a lovely day to day, seems like absolute donkeys since I last when for chats, coffee and cakeage, so I think I appreciated it all the more!

Hope everyone else had a lovely weekend as well and didn't hit the town too hard Saturday night! x

Chunky Junk and mushrooms

What do you think to this bracelet:

I made this a good while back now probably a year ago, with bits and pieces off of an awesome ebay shop, I still love the novelty of it, but I just never seem to wear it! I don't even know where to begin with styling it into an outfit, anybody got any ideas? I'm in two minds weather to keep it or sell it to somebody who will show it a little love.

I've been trying to flog it on the Lush forum for a while now with no luck, so if anybody here wants it drop me a line at sarafisk@hotmail.co.uk, or other wise convince me to keep it!

I also made these which I do love and wear all the time particularly the mushroom it's so darn cute! and the fimo sheep, all of which are as easy as pie to make out of scraps of fabric or oddments of fimo clay. I made a tree also out of felt, but I can't find it for the life of me! Anyhoo they're my makes 'o' the day!

Kats Love Fashion's panda nails: attempt deux

Last week one of my most stalked bloggers Kats Love Fashion did this post here of her panda nail art, I instantly lusted after it and (rather foolishly) promised in my comment to her I'd give it ago, and so I have, only it's not quite up to her standard!

As you may have guessed from the title this not my first try, the first try was un-photographable! (not an actual word but apt!) this try was better but unfortunately the black dragged when I put the top coat on, and I'm not sure of how much it actually resembles a panda either! But I will persevere!

I must say again though this was not my idea and is original to Kats Love Fashion who inspired me, so I hope she sees this as an admiration post, because that's exactly what it is!

It sure is a cute design though!

The week in pictures

Okay, so maybe last week in pictures :p

1. First week back at college, DOOM, as you can probably see I have a problem with early mornings, I do not function properly before 10:00am! Also we now have to wear these vile identification tags; they spelt my name wrong -__- you would have thought after 7 years....MY NAME IS SARA NOT SARAH! *eyeroll*

2. & 3. I have basically been living off ham rolls and white chocolate spread on rice cakes all week, ahh the diet of a student!

4. Camera troubles-  been getting to grips with my (poor) blog photography, I'm not in love with the pictures so far what do you think? it's 12.5 MP, so surely that'a a fairly good quality picture? I'd really love some feedback though about the current format of the outfit post specifically, what do you think of the quality/lighting/angles/area?

5.& 6. The Stash. I've seen bigger, but mine is still pretty loaded, the amount of lip balm is near horrifying, but with Lush launching new products and discon's this week, my shelves will be heavy, and my purse will be light! Me thinks an Ebay/blog sale clear out is due, or else that shelf is just going to come clean away from the wall!

Also I just wanted to say thank you for all the lovely comments on my 'footloose and make-up free' post, and it was really interesting to hear all your opinions on make-up and how much or how little you like to, or feel you have to wear. For me it's a choice I made in order to keep my skin spot-free, so perhaps if that weren't the case I might feel entirely different about, all in all, I think anything goes as long as you feel happy with it.

Outfit post

Borg lined hoody- sol cal @ republic
Shirt- Dad ;D
Skinny's- Topshop
Terrible old faux uggs- Peacocks

Had this since I was born, it means so much to me,
I think, just perhaps it's been with me for so long, and reminds me of so many memories.
 I love it.

Okay so I'm not getting any points in the fashionista stakes, but still! I wear, therefore I post!

I had a lovely floaty ethereal outfit lined up for today, but when I wake up, what do I see 20c? sunny? nope, thrashing trees, 30mph winds, and a steady rain fall. Lovely.

Me thinks some fake outfit posts are in order soon, if only to scrape back any flailing cred I have left!

Foot loose and make-up free!

In case you hadn't already noticed, I don't wear any make-up...shock horror! So hears why in case you're wondering. Or even if you're not ;)

I wore it very nearly every day between the ages of about 12 and 17, I had terrible skin, I needed to use it to cover up all the spots and clogged pores I had from all the foundation, I used to spend every break and lunch time constantly re-applying, always paranoid my eye-liner, foundation, mascara etc. had smudged, I was torturing my self with worrying about it so much, it was ridiculous!

A couple of summers ago, during the break, I hadn't really been out anywhere apart from around my family, and I hadn't worn any make-up for about two weeks; my skin was wonderful. I didn't have any great horrid spots or a washed out complexion, just my nice clean, fair skin. I realised I didn't need to wear make-up all the time to look good, I liked looking natural, it suited me more, and it was better for my skin, before it had been a catch 22 situation.

I only wear make-up on very special occasion now, probably two or three times a year! but certainly not everyday, If I'm kind to my skin, my skin will be kind to me, plus I'm eighteen years old, I'm trying to make the most of it!

So that's why, for me personally! What are your opinions on make-up and how much people wear? do you love/hate it? never leave the house without it? I'd really like to know.

Pies and pushing dasies

Anyone who knows me knows I am in LOVE with pushing daisies.

Charlotte 'Chuck' Charles
Ned The pie maker

How cute are the outfits! Chuck is just adorable, and oh the dresses, this show has the most amazing wardrobe ever, 50's, retro, kitsch, I WANT iiiit!

Left to right: Digby the dog, Lily & Vivian Charles, Ned the pie maker, Charlotte 'Chuck' Charles, Olive Snook, Emerson Cod

And I heart Kristin Chenoweth as Olive Snook (best name ever) it's got me totally hooked on this 'they might be giants' cover of  'Birdhouse in your soul' it's so cheery!

*shakes fist at ABC for not having a third series*

Anyhoo, all the pie making and eating made me want pie, so pies I did make.

I just stewed some apples and blackberries I'd picked on a bike ride (free food!) for the filling
and used this basic Bero pastry recipe:

225 g (8 oz)Be-Ro Plain Flour
pinchsalt
50 g (2 oz)lard
50 g (2 oz)margarine
cold water to mix, about 30 ml (approx. 2 tbsp.)
25 g (1 oz)caster sugar if sweet pastry is required.

I do them each at 200c, 400F or gas mark 6 for 20 minuets, and substituted the margarine for the same weight in butter it makes the pastry so much tastier if you can afford it. I'm pretty pleased with them, I love the heart one best though!

"Lady in red" wants a chunky cardigan!

1. Matalan- £20
2. Peacocks- £22
3. Topshop- £48 (har har)
I have been meticulously scouring the internet for a chunky cable or aran cardigan in a light colour, a white, beige, or cream sort of affair is what I'm after. These three are all I've come up with. Bad times, at between £20-£48 (lol) It's not going to happen on my budget! None the less, I love the Topshop one but I do think it's in need of some pockets.

I want it to go with this:

Another Ebay thrift for £1.99 (!) I got in a bit of a christmasy mood and thought it would look awesome with tights, boots and a chunky cardi, but I'm lacking the chunky cardi!

Full outfit post to follow soon, I promise! Any ideas for places to get a chunky cream cardi would be much appreciated, I can't think of anywhere I haven't looked on t'internet, other wise, I'm off to Primark!
